Today the yearly clock switching to summertime took place: What a nonsense !
Clocks were switched one hour ahead (+ 1 hour) as usual. Some people say: "Great", so we have one hour more of day light in the evenings: Instead of 9 PM (e.g.) sun set is at 10 PM: "Hello, anybody at home ?!?" I don't wonna sit in a restaurant in the evening, having a romantic dinner and candles are useless since the sky is still blue. Who wants to have a blue sky after 9 PM ?? I want a night sky, I want the stars, I want candles, I want to feel the recreation of the night.
My opinion: Switching to summertime is a rediculous idea: Why do I have to stay up one hour more before it's getting dark (and thereby making it even harder to fall asleep by the way - at least if you don't have a jalousie).
And just by the way.....: Even without summer time (+ 1 hour) the sky remains bright enough in the summer evenings... "Hellooooo !!! ".
And one even more rediculous fact: In the mornings, the sun rises one hour later. Well, that does not make any sense to me: I am not allowed to sleep one additional hour: At least, I think my boss would object.
Please ladies and gentlemen, boys and and girls, anybody who agrees, please leave a comment. I really appreciate your opinion. Let's stop this crazy nonesense. Thanks !!!

About brain dead people
I don't know if there are different kinds of brain dead people: For this blog, I want to assume that there is just one kind of brain dead people.
My assumption is that so called brain dead people are not really dead: I realize that a deceisive part of their body (or to be more exact: brain) is not working properly (the higher brain levels) and the human therefore is at least in some deep kind of coma. But I think this does not justify pulling the plug with him/her. I wonna say why I take this view a little further below.
But before I do this, let me say that currently there seems to be no scientific method to wake up people who have fallen into a deep coma called persistent vegetative state (PVS). Therefore I want to stress here that I don't wonna blame anybody or judge over anybody who allows a doctor to pull the plug with a relative.
Key thought: Having said this, here is my key thought why I think it's not right to pull the plug with PVS patients. My key question is: When does a human brain start to work (and the same applies to animal brains, I bet), i.e. when does a human brain start to be alive at all ?
Every baby in its mothers womb grows and for me the key question is: When does a babys brain start to work ? I wonder if anybody ever investigated this ?
Answering this question would be highly desirable: For I think that brain dead people are in fact in a similar state of brain as babys are in the beginning of their live (in their mothers' womb).
Another key question is: How are the higher levels of a babys brain kick started ?? Or is this rather a genetic thing and a babys brain is really working from the first day of cell division ?
I'd like to assume that babys brains are kick started because it might be easier to solve the problem: If we knew how a babys (higher) brain (levels) is kick started, I bet we could also kick start a grown ups brain that is in a persistent vegetative state (PVS).
Since a human heart can be kick started with a heart defibrillator, I think a brain can be kick started in a similar fashion: However, there is the cranial bone in the way and maybe also all neighboring brain cells (if each cell would have to be kick started individually).
Maybe it's also just a question of synchronization (if so, a kind of pacemaker would apply): Every brain cell is actually a little computer. To make it work again as a whole, it needs a synchonized input and send output from and towards its neighboured cells. If this idea is right, there should be some means of synchronization thats received by every (higher level) brain cell. But even if a human brain should work asynchronously, the question would be: Which signals does a dedicated brain cell need to work properly ?
If I were a brain factory, I would possibly kick start a growing babys brain like this: Every time a single brain cell is being produced (by a cell assembly line) I would at the same moment kick start each new brain cell by some electric impulse. Thereby, the energy needed is small at each point of time and besides would not interfere with other already kick started parts of the human (baby) body and (baby) brain.
However, if each cell was activated individually, it would be really difficult (most scientists would probably say: impossible) - to kick start a grown ups brain again as a whole because one probably would not get admission to each brain cell individually.
But I'm just mentioning starting points here, anyway. I bet there are thousands of ways to find a solution to kick start a human brain that is a persistent vegetative state (PVS). What a great challenge for the interested scientist !

There is a movie about this theme that I like called Just like heaven (2005).
